Maeve is a sweet girl who just has not learned that the world is safe just yet. She will now approach to a gentle hand but a pet is still very scary. If you are not watching, Maeve will go in and out of the house on her own, she knows stairs and uses them well. It is very heartwarming to she Maeve go full speed ahead and play with the young dogs! The fenced yard is her favorite place and enjoys all of the scents. Maeve has not been introduced to cats and has yet to meet children. Maeve is learning house manners but because she is still a bit frightened, it has not been easy for her. She does however, does know to go each time she is out side. Maeve will require a patient home that is willing to let her blossom.
Maeve was recently spayed and had a dental. She will be ready to go to her family in the coming weeks.

5 year old Bailey is an owner surrender who came to us when owner could no longer afford her care. Bailey has a long history of ear infections, although clear at the moment. She is well adjusted in the home and cohabitates with other dogs both young and adult. Bailey appears to be housebroken. She navigates stairs with ease, although she is overweight and will benefit from loosing a few pounds. First night in her foster home, Bailey claimed on to the chair in the bedroom as her sleep spot and continues to do so! Eating a raw diet is very new to Bailey but she does well with it. She is getting her intake exam and dental soon and will then be ready to a home to call her own! Bailey walks well on a leash and will be happy to join in on daily jaunts!
UPDATE: Dental complete with 2 extractions.

Pansy is a sweet little tri-color with a lot of spunk. She is a gentle little girl who loves everyone. She has lots of energy and loves exploring. Pansy has many qualities of a puppy and needs supervision. She can not be left alone unattended as she currently puts everything she finds in her mouth, just like a puppy.
Pansy is making wonderful progress on potty training. She currently is crate trained and if she is let out after naps and periodically throughout the day she does her business outside. Pansy is learning that just because she was let outside doesn’t mean she has to stay outside.
Pansy follows the lead of the other dogs in the house as she learns to be a house dog. She listens and will come when called. Pansy is more than happy to have a stranger pet her and tell her she is cute. She does not seem to be a big barker, but will sometimes bark for a minute or two when first put in her crate at bedtime.
Pansy has not been exposed to cats, other small pets or children. A fenced yard is preferred. Pansy will need a guardian who is home more than not. Cavaliers as a whole are companion dogs and Pansy is a prime example.

A NOTE FROM SMOKEY'S NEW FOSTER MOM:
Smokey is still adjusting to us and the rest of dogs. He usually growls alot when any of the other dogs come near him. He does better outside then inside with the other dogs. He has a funny habit of dragging my laundry out into the kitchen and making a bed with it or filling the dog bed he has claimed with laundry. He is very territorial with these items. Because of this I really feel he would be great in a single dog family. He has been really good about going outside on a schedule but still lifts his leg in the house when he is not in diapers. No food issues. He LOVES to be carried around. So much so that he runs to get in front of me then stops, sits down, puts his back to me and looks up waiting. It is really adorable. I put him in a tote I had bought for my little old guy when he couldn't go on walks any longer and he was super happy. I haven't had the opportunity to try going for a walk yet, but I'll give it a shot this weekend and see how it goes. I'll send some pics and a video of my midnight trying her best to play and win him over this afternoon. It's the closest he's come to interacting with any of them.

Rusty is ready to find a home to call his own. Foster Mom update: Rusty is nine months old and full of fun but able to calm down and rest with his people. He is fully housebroken with a consistent schedule and sleeps through the night in his caretaker's bed. Rusty would love to have another dog to play with and is very good with cats. Rusty's missing eye does not impair his ability to race around the yard and fetch sticks. He is walking well on a leash and learning sit, wait and recalls very quickly. Rusty enjoys chewing on bones and playing with sticks, but he is generally a very calm little dog who would love to just sit in a chair and watch tv with you or read a book. Rusty has taken well to his raw diet and still needs to put on a few pounds.

Shawn is ready to find his forever home! He was surrendered by his breeder after multiple attempts at getting him to gain weight to no avail. Upon arrival Shawn weighed in at 11.6 lbs and thin looking. His appetite is great and stools normal. At first it was thought he had EPI or cardiac cachexia as he does have a grade IV heart murmur, however asymptomatic; both have been ruled out. A good diet, cardiac supplementation and exercise are proving to be the answer. Shawn is gaining weight at a slow but steady rate and filling out nicely. He is a very happy go lucky guy who lives harmoniously with his foster brothers and sisters (dogs). Shawn has not been exposed to cats, other small animals or human children. Housebreaking is coming along with a regular schedule. Shawn goes straight to the crate at bedtime but also enjoys sleeping in the bed as well. Time spent with his human is a favorite!

Oliver is looking for his perfect forever home! Nearly 4.5 month old Oliver was surrendered by his breeder related to failure to thrive. He does have a mild open fontanel, significant overbite and undescended testicles (which means his neuter surgery will be more complicated). Oliver has been eating his raw naturally sourced diet with raw goat milk, cow kefir and fish stock wonderfully on his mine pet platter and is continually gaining weight and growing. Oliver is small for his age at 3.5 lbs. He is all puppy, playing nonstop with the other puppies! Another active dog would make the best home. He has all of the traits of a puppy, chewing, chewing, chewing! Oliver is not house broken and will require a home with someone home most hours and able to take him out very often (at least every 2 hrs). Children in the home must be over 12 yrs old and very dog savvy and gentle because his open fontanel makes him fragile. A fenced yard is preferred but putting up a temporary enclosure may work. **Potential adopter must live within Chicagoland area so that follow up, if needed and neuter at appropriate age, can be performed at our veterinarian.
Oliver will be placed as a foster with option to adopt after neuter is complete at appropriate age and growth plates close.
